Chris DoddsFocusfire was founded in July 2011 by IT architect and security consultant, Chris Dodds. The company was created out of a desire to help individuals and businesses navigate the sometimes murky waters of IT infrastructure as well as a general frustration with an industry that seems to over-prescribe technology bandaids to people problems.
Our aim is to help solve the people element of IT. We want to translate geek-to-exec and back again, assist in rebuilding trust, and give small to medium-sized businesses a resource to look to when trying to determine the technological path forward.
Above all, we are humans trying to solve human problems. The best technology in the world often goes to waste because of misaligned goals, poor communication, trust issues, and improper fit. IT is a means to an end and in order to successfully serve its purpose, the people and process dynamic must fall solidly into place.
Simplicity
We’re big fans of KISS, not the make-up wearing rock band (although they are pretty awesome), but the idea of keeping things simple. IT infrastructure should be as simple as possible and should “just work.” When technology and business is discussed the language should be clear and direct.
Transparency
Great IT infrastructure is transparent to end users, both in practice and in justification. Business leaders need to know that the magic boxes in the server room are helping their business and that the people they have in place to keep that equipment running understand the goals of the business.
